Competition Relaunched By Essex FA

The Essex Thameside Trophy has been relaunched by the Essex County FA, with the draw for this year's competition seeing Canvey drawn at home in the first and potentially second rounds.

In the first round we will host reigning Essex Senior League champions and Bostik North newcomers Hullbridge Sports, with the tie to be played before the end of August.

The winners of this tie will then play at home to Mark Stimson's Hornchurch, with that tie to be settled before the end of October.

The draws in full are as follows:

ROUND ONE (by end August)
1. Barkingside vs Basildon United
2. Great Wakering Rovers vs Ilford
3. Hashtag United vs Brentwood Town
4. Canvey Island vs Hullbridge Sports

ROUND TWO (by end October)
5. East Thurrock United vs Great Wakering Rovers/Ilford
6. May & Baker Eastbrook Community vs Romford
7. Tilbury vs Hashtag United/Brentwood Town
8. Buckhurst Hill vs Walthamstow
9. White Ensign vs Barkingside/Basildon United
10. Grays Athletic vs Bowers & Pitsea
11. Concord Rangers vs Aveley
12. Canvey Island/Hullbridge Sports vs Hornchurch

The Gulls have won the Essex Thameside Trophy and the superb galleon trophy that comes with it on four occasions in 1993/94, 1995/96, 1997/98 and 2005/06, finishing as runners-up in 1996/97 and 2007/08.

The competition was last run in the 2008/09 season and now returns after a 11-season hiatus.
