Gulls picked up a point from a 1-1 draw against Tilbury at Chadfields.

This game was a scrappy contest with both teams having spells of pressure.

Canvey took the lead on 6 minutes when Tilbury goalkeeper Billy Lawlor made a complete mess of dealing with a long clearance under pressure from Mitchell May and Gulls' top scorer was able to fire into the net.

Tilbury responded well on 20 minutes when former Gull Rasheed Salau won a penalty going down under a challenge from goalkeeper David Hughes. Joe Elliott stepped up and emphatically fired the spot kick into the net.

Tilbury dominated proceedings for the next 20 minutes before Canvey created a chance on 40 minutes with Ernest Okoh breaking down the right and finding Ross Wall whose goal bound shot was blocked by a defender.

Into the second half and Canvey came close a few minutes in after Connor Hubble's left wing corner eluded both Jack Cawley and Elliott Ronto who couldn't quite get a touch to the ball.

Charlie Panton then saw a curling 20 yard effort brilliantly tipped over by Lawlor on 55 minutes as Canvey applied the pressure.

Approaching the last 15 minutes, Ronto saw a shot blocked before Wall slashed an effort wide when well placed.

Jonathan Nzengo then broke down the right for Tilbury and fired in a shot that Hughes did well to hold.

Canvey nearly went in front when Okoh used his strength to chase a through ball, outmuscle the defender but from a few yards out, he poked the ball into the side netting.

An injury time corner from Hubble caused a scramble in the box with Tilbury eventually clearing the danger but a draw was probably a fair result.
