Gulls and Shrimpers legends come together for Glen.

Canvey Island and Southend United legends have come together to play a charity match for Glen Eckett, who is an avid supporter of both clubs.

Glen, a popular figure at both clubs and Canvey's head of media, was taken ill last year after suffering a serious brain injury, and has been hospital bound ever since in a state of semi consciousness.

A fundraiser has since been set up to help support his family at this difficult time (the link to which is below) and to further add to this, Canvey Island FC and the Shrimpers Supporters Trust have come together to organise a legends match to help raise funds.

Former Canvey and Southend player Steve Tilson will take charge of a Southend United legends side including the likes of current boss Kevin Maher, former Canvey manager Mark Bentley and 90s fan favourite goalkeeper Simon Royce amongst others.

Meanwhile, former Canvey assistant manager and Southend United player Glenn Pennyfather will take charge of the Canvey legends, with the likes of Steve Ward, Jeff Minton and Steve Parmenter among the squad.

This match will take place on Sunday 28th July with a 2pm kick off scheduled. Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for Concession.

You can purchase advance tickets via the Shrimpers Trust using the link below. Pay on the gate is also available.
