As revealed in last night’s matchday programme, Vice Chairman Harry Palmer has addressed supporters on the club’s start to the season, the work taking place behind the scenes and the importance of everyone pulling together.
With the club facing a challenging opening to the campaign, Harry outlines the work being undertaken alongside Kevin Horlock, Pip Boyland, Glen Knight and John Batch to strengthen the squad, particularly following a number of injuries which have left the team short in several areas.
While acknowledging that the results so far have not been where anyone connected with the club wants them to be, Harry reiterates the board’s full backing of Kevin and his coaching staff and the determination within the club to turn the situation around.
He also makes clear that the club’s supporters have an important role to play as we look to put the difficult start behind us and begin climbing the table.
Here is Harry’s message in full:

Hi everyone,
Thank you for coming along to tonight’s match and for your continued support of the club.
I felt it was important to make a few comments personally on the start we have had to the season and, more importantly, where we go from here.
John (Batch) and I are working extremely hard alongside Kevin (Horlock), Pip (Boyland) and Glen (Knight) to strengthen the squad and give Kevin and his staff the depth they need to compete.
Injuries have left us short in a number of areas, and we are actively working to bring in new players who can add quality and competition to the group.
We all recognise that the results so far have not been where any of us want them to be. The players and management team are fully aware of that, but there is a real determination within the club to put the disappointing start behind us and move forward together.
Kevin and his staff have our full backing. We believe we have the right management team in place, with Kevin’s record of success in this division and at the level above demonstrating the experience and ability he can bring to the club.
Our job now is to support Kevin in building the squad he wants, while giving the players already here every opportunity to turn things around on the pitch.
We know these are difficult moments, but this is when the club needs its supporters more than ever. We all want the same thing – to see Canvey Island Football Club succeed and climb the table.
So let’s get behind the boys, Kevin and his staff, and work together to get this club where we believe it belongs.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Harry
