The Club are pleased to confirm that we will welcome Chelmsford City to the Steve’s Taxis Stadium for a pre-season friendly on Tuesday 14 July, with kick-off scheduled for 7:45pm.

The fixture provides another valuable test for Garry Kimble’s side ahead of the new campaign, as the Gulls take on one of Essex’s leading non-league clubs. Supporters can look forward to an entertaining evening under the lights as preparations continue for the 2026/27 season.

Chelmsford City spent the 2025/26 season competing in the National League South, where they mounted another strong challenge in one of non-league football’s most competitive divisions. The Clarets faced the likes of Torquay United, Maidstone United, Eastbourne Borough and Worthing throughout the campaign, with the club once again targeting a place in the promotion picture. Their season saw them continue to establish themselves as one of the division’s consistent performers, making them strong opposition for the Gulls as both sides gear up for the new campaign.

With the new season drawing ever closer, the visit of Chelmsford City promises to be another important part of Canvey Island’s preparations and we look forward to welcoming the players, staff and supporters of the Clarets to the Steve’s Taxis Stadium.
