Following last nights disappointing BBC Essex Senior Cup defeat to Benfleet Manager Peter Taylor made the decision to step down from his position. Our Chairman accepted his resignation and thanked him for all his efforts this season.

Player/Coach Michael Finneran will take temporary charge until a new manager is appointed.

Canvey Island FC would like to add that Peter has a great history with the club and will always be welcome at future matches.

Peters comments are below:
I am very disappointed to say that I have decided to step down as manager of Canvey island football club. Lady luck hasn’t been kind to us this season but the position of the team is not good enough and I take total responsibility for that.
I knew it wasn’t going to be easy as we were a brand new team and the division is probably as strong as it’s ever been.
I wish the club and supporters well. They have got good people there that work extremely hard and deserve to have happier match days.
