Canvey Island enter the Isuzu FA Trophy this Saturday (08/10) as they host Soutuern League Premier South side Bracknell Town at the Moviestarr Stadium.

The Robins come into this match currently sitting 14th in their division after 8 game. Like ourselves, they gained promotion from Step 4 last season, winning the Isthmian League Div 1 Central by an incredible 20 point margin to their nearest contender.

Whilst their league form has been mixed this season, Bracknell have been impressive in the Cup, earning a place in the 4th Qualifying Round after a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Yate Town last Saturday.

Canvey meanwhile, come into this game off the back of an impressive victory in the league against Bognor Regis Town, winning the game 3-2 after coming from behind twice. Bradley Sach (2) and Evans Kouassi were the Gulls' scorers on the day.

This will be our 5th competitive meeting with the Robins. Our last match came all the way back in January of 1998, the Gulls securing a 5-1 league victory that day thanks to goals from Steve Porter (2), Simon Liddle (2) and Alan Harding.

In the FA Trophy, our opponents best run came in the curtailed 20/21 season as they reached the Second Round.

Canvey of course, have reached two FA Trophy finals in their history, winning one of those in 2001 at they beat Forest Green Rovers 1-0 at Villa Park to bring the silverware back to the Island.

Should this match finish as a draw after 90 minutes on Saturday, then penalties will be required to decide a winner on the day.
