On Tuesday 18th January, we will flock to Suffolk to take on AFC Sudbury in the Pitching In Isthmian North Division, 19:45 kick-off.

The Gulls come into this match following an impressive 6-2 victory at Hullbridge Sports on Saturday. Now they'll be aiming to steal 3 points from Suffolk.

AFC Sudbury come into this match on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Romford on Saturday. As a result, they sit just outside the playoff places in 7th position. AFC Sudbury enjoyed an impressive FA Cup run, and their First Round fixture at home to Colchester United was shown live on the BBC, and over 2000 were in attendance at the MEL Group Stadium. AFC Sudbury unfortunately lost this, but they gave a very good account of themselves and did the league proud.

Canvey goalkeeping legend, Danny Potter, is the current first team goalkeeping coach at Sudbury, and he'll be receiving a warm reception from the travelling Gulls fans.

The last time ourselves and Sudbury met was back in the 2019/20 season, where the match finished 2-2 at Park Lane. This result was eventually expunged due to COVID-19.

Managers Thoughts
Chris Smith caught up with Canvey manager, Brad Wellman ahead of Tuesday nights game. Brad said: "We are looking forward to the game. It's the start of a tough run of games for us. AFC Sudbury are a solid team who are looking to get back in amongst the pack. We have shown great character in the last 2 games, and we hope that we can continue the run that we've started. We have set ourselves high standards, and we now feel like we are getting close to reaching these again. In order for us to reach our targets that we've set, we have to relish games like this."

Brad also commented on the Yellow Army: "Hopefully the Yellow Army will be fully behind us in numbers & in full voice."

Sudbury have a very modern licensed clubhouse which serves a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. A pool table and televised football are available. The tea bar, just outside of the clubhouse, serves a range of hot food and drink.
