On Saturday 16th April, we will make the short trip to Burroughs Park as we take on Great Wakering Rovers in the Pitching In Isthmian North Division, kick-off 15:00.
We come into this match on the back of an astonishing 13-0 win at home to Romford on Saturday! This was our biggest win in almost 40 years, breaking the previous record of an 11-0 win over Coggeshall in the Essex Senior League in 1984. Those that attended definitely got their moneys worth.
Thanks to Felixstowe & Walton United, who beat Stowmarket Town on Tuesday night, we still occupy 2nd position. Every team has currently played 35 matches, with just 3 remaining. We are currently 2 points off league leaders Aveley, so it'll be a very tight end to the season. There have been so many twists and turns of late, so who knows what the future has in store.
Our hosts, Great Wakering Rovers have recently parted company with manager, John Coventry. Coventry has now been appointed manager of Tilbury Football Club. Rovers have appointed ex-Gull, Martin Tuohy as player coach, who will work alongside Iain O'Connell. Rovers occupy 15th position and come into this match on the back of a 1-1 draw away to Coggeshall Town. We have already met the Rovers this season when we fell to a 3-2 defeat in early January.
We look forward to seeing many Gulls fans flock to Burroughs Park, and we are sure you'll get right behind the team, making plenty of noise as you always do. We would like to wish you all a safe journey to and from the match and an enjoyable afternoon.
