On Saturday 12th February, it's our biggest game of the season so far, 1st vs 2nd! This time we will travel to Aveley as we take them on in the Pitching In Isthmian North Division, kick-off 3pm. This has all the ingredients of a tough, but entertaining match!
Aveley are having a tremendous season, particularly since Danny Scopes took over at the helm. Aveley are currently unbeaten at home in the league. In their previous 6 games, they haven't conceded any goals, and they've scored 18 goals. They are also unbeaten in 10 league games, winning 9 of them. Aveley come into this match on the back of a 4-0 win at home to Bury Town.
There are a few familiar faces within the Aveley side, such as: George Sykes & Marlon Agyakwa. We very much look forward to seeing these ex-Gulls again.
Last time out, we secured a great 2-0 victory at home to Steve Tilson's Heybridge Swifts, so the boys will be raring to go again. As a result, we now occupy 2nd position and we are just 1 point off league leaders Aveley, having played an equal number of games.
Ourselves and Aveley have already met this season, when the Gulls triumphed 3-1 at Park Lane, before Scopes took over.
We are very much looking forward to what should be a cracking game. We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone associated with the Gulls a safe journey to and from the match.
