On Saturday 2nd September, we are due to travel to Heybridge Swifts as we take them on in the Isthmian North Division, kick-off 3pm.
The Swifts have recently appointed former Gull, Steve Tilson as their new manager, following Julian Dick's resignation.
Mark Bentley spoke with Glen Eckett following Tuesday nights match, and Mark gave his thoughts on Tilson's appointment and Saturday's match:
"I've got upmost respect for Tilly! He's the one that gave me my professional contract at Southend United. I cannot speak highly enough of him. Heybridge had a really good win on Saturday. We need to go there and make sure we are on it. We will be ready to go and we are in a good position in the league. We have targets, and we are close to those targets, but we are not there yet."
Heybridge come into this match on the back of a very impressive 3-2 win against one of the league favourites, Maldon & Tiptree. Whereas, ourselves come into this match on the back of a very entertaining 4-2 win at home to Brentwood Town on Tuesday night.
The last time ourselves and Heybridge met was in the 2019/20 season, where we drew 4-4 at Park Lane. This result was eventually expunged due to COVID-19.
This is set to be another entertaining encounter and a tough one at that! We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone associated with Canvey a safe trip to and from the match. Get right behind the boys from the off. Yellow Army!
