Canvey Island lost again in crucial relegation 6 pointer leaving the Gulls 10 points from safety with 10 games remaining. After a fairly even start the Gulls went ahead in the 17th minute when a pin point free kick from Conor Hubble was headed home at the far post by Michael Finneran. The lead was only to last until the 23rd minute when a harsh penalty decision for handball led to Bryan Ifeanyi sending Jacob Marsdon the wrong way to score from the spot. That was the how the half ended with the match level at 1-1.
The game turned the Robins way in the 51st minute when Nathan Young-Coombes a new signing was brought down by Luke O'Neill. The referee thought he was stopping a goal scoring opportunity and showed a straight red to the Canvey Player. Our third match in last four where we have been reduced to 10 men.
In the 64th minute a defensive error allowed Tolu Ladapo to roll the ball into an unguarded net. Midway through the half the gulls thought they had equalized when another Conor Hubble free kick was turned but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Game was over in the 73rd Minute when a shot from the edge of the box found the bottom corner from Charlie George.
It could have been worse as the Robins had two further good chances before the final whistle.
