Canvey Island secured all 3 points against Relegation rivals Potters bar Town. It took 46 minutes before the Gulls took the lead with a far post tap in by Callum Newson after good work from Matas Skarna on the right side of the penalty area.
Early in the second half Potters Bar were back in the match when a long range effort from Damaray Anyadike somehow found the back of the net.
With the match looking like heading for a draw Canvey were awarded a penalty that was tucked into the bottom corner by Abdirahman Hasan Mohamud.
Then in injury time he Gull broke away and Finlay Dorrell unselfishly cross for Duane Ofori-Acheampong to slide in from a tight angle to seal the match.
A great result from Canvey earning a much needed three points. However the result was marred by some of our adult supporters racially abusing the Potters Bar Town Physio and also verbally abusing the linesman. We expect action from the FA on this as it will not be our first offensive. More information on this will be issued when we know more.
