The Gulls deservedly took three points from this match with Garry Kimble and his team in charge for he first time. Playing a similar system as in the last match with Leatherhead Canvey looked a much stronger side especially going forward. Hillians keeper was forced into a brilliant point blank save to keep the Gulls out early on. Canvey had the better of the first half but in the last action of the half Burgess Hill should have taken the lead with a chance falling to George Vorster but a brilliant stop on the line from Joe Halsey ensured it was goal less at the break.
In the second half Canvey were the dominant force and almost straight from the start Calum Newson carried the ball strongly half the length of the pitch before crossing for top scorer Max Fiddes to tap in to give Canvey the lead.
With 21 minutes left on the clock Burgess Hill failed to clear a cross and the ball was crossed back in. Somehow Burgess Hill defenders failed to clear and Max Fiddes was there again to score his second of the match.
An important win and it is vital to keep the momentum going as we now have three home games at the Steves Taxis Stadium.
Players and supporters celebrated on the Coach trip back to the Island. A great start for the New Management Team and the squad.
