A game of two halves finished 1:1 at the Artic Stadium. Canvey Island dominated the first half creating chances after their confidence building win against top of the table Brentwood Town on Tuesday night. They took the lead on 24 minutes through a first goal for Louie Remi after he found space and put the ball in the bottom corner.
At half time the Millers made three changes and started to dominate the game. Canvey should have doubled their lead when Max Fiddes was alone in front of goal but his header hit the bar when he should have scored. After that Cray Valley piled on the pressure which eventually paid off with an 85th minute equaliser from Sonny Black.
The Gulls held on for a point but will be gutted they did not take all three.
On Tuesday night Canvey start the defence of the BBC Essex Senior Cup at home to local rivals Benfleet which should be a tough match despite the difference in league position.
