Canvey Island succumbed to a third successive defeat losing 2-0 against Folkestone Invicta at the Steve's Taxis stadium.
Despite edging a close first half, Gulls were undone by Folkestone’s ruthless finishing in the second half.
Gulls suffered an injury blow in the opening 10 minutes when centre back Alex Moss limped off injured.
Canvey reorganized and started brightly. Chris Regis twice came close in the first 20 minutes. Ted Collins made a brave save at the feet of the striker before he saw a shot deflected just wide of the target.
Lewis Greene had to spread himself to make a save midway through the first half from close range for Canvey.
Into the second half, Greene pushed away a long range effort before Folkestone took the lead on 56 minutes.
A long ball over the top was squared to Ade Yusuff and the prolific striker tapped home.
On 72 minutes Folkestone extended their lead from another quick break.
Kweku Lucan broke and squared the ball to Josh Strouts who slotted the ball into the net from close range.
Gulls enjoyed plenty of possession but were unable to test a well organised Folkestone defence.
