Man of Match: Tobi Tinubu
Promotion threatened Canvey Island will be the happier of the two sides after a no-score stalemate against promotion chasing Dover Athletic. This was an excellent point for the Gulls who produced a hard working display to keep their Kent opponents out and help improve their chances of moving clear of the relegation zone.
The first shooting opportunity of the game fell Dover's way when Francis Mampolo saw a shot blocked on 21 minutes. Moments later Jordon Gilmore made a fine save to keep out a long range effort out and Jimmy Wallace fired the loose ball from an acute angle over the crossbar for the Gulls.
Jamie Salmon was also narrowly off target and just before half time Darren Foxley did well to hold off a defender, drive into the penalty area and drill his shot fractionally wide of the goal.
Neither side were able to get on top in the second half. Dover perhaps started to edge it midway through the half but struggled to create anything in front of goal. In fact Canvey had a couple of chances to win the game and the Dover defence had to make a number of crucial blocks. Dover keeper Gilmore was sent off for kicking out at an opponent and making an inappropriate remark to the linesman in injury time and they had to put an outfield player in goal for the remaining few minutes but the Gulls were unable to take advantage.
