The Hornets are enjoying a good season so far, with the club nestled in a respectable 10th place coming into this fixture after just 13 games. It's their FA Cup run however, that's been the real success story of the season, as they made the 2nd Round Proper of the competition after some impressive results.

Dispatching National League side Dorking Wanderers at home in the 4th Qualifying Round, they were rewarded a trip to League One side Barnsley in the 1st Round Proper. They gave the Tykes quite the scare, drawing 3-3 at Oakwell to force a replay. It seemed like it was the end of the road however in said replay, with Barnsley winning comfortably on the night to advance.
However, a player registration error meant that the League One side were expelled from the competition by the FA - with Horsham reinstated, and their reward a trip to League Two side Sutton United in the 2nd Round Proper. Despite holding them to a goalless draw by half time however, a second half rout saw the adventure end in a 3-0 defeat. Nethertheless, it was a valiant effort to reach this stage of the competition, with over 1200 of the 'Lardy Army' in attendance away from home on the day.

Their focus now turns back to a busy league and Trophy schedule, but Dominic Di Paola has a capable squad to manage this undertaking. They have plenty of talent across the park, with astute defenders like Harvey Sparks and Charlie Hester-Cook guarding their rear, whilst the attacking talent of Daniel Ajakaiye and Shamir Fenelon, among others, know where the net is.

Our last competitive meeting with Horsham also came in December, with a trip to the Camping World Community Stadium last year finishing in a frustrating 2-0 loss for the Gulls.

The Gulls
Canvey meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing league defeat at the weekend, with the Gulls going down 3-1 at league new boys Hashtag United.

A Conor Hubble consolation goal wasn't enough on the day, with the Gulls resoundingly beaten after a performance well below their recent best. They'll be hoping that the form they had previously in recent league wins will return as they seek another valuable three points in a tightening league table.
