Canvey Island are back on their travels this weekend, as they make the journey down to East Sussex to face Hastings United in the Isthmian League Premier.

Our Opponents
United have enjoyed a solid start to their league campaign so far, with the club sitting in the playoff places at the time of writing.

Despite starting the season in reasonably good form, a string of poor results cost manager Paul Barnes, who replaced outgoing Gary Elphick in May, the top job at Pilot Field, with Chris Agutter coming back to take the reigns after previously leaving the club in November 2021.

His appointment appears to be paying off however, with his regaining form that see's then battling it out for playoff places with other promotion contenders. Their last outing on Tuesday saw them record a convincing 4-0 victory over Carshalton Athletic to push them up the table.

Agutter certainly isn't short on talent in his ranks, with proven Isthmian striking talent in John Ufuah and Davide Rodari leading the line, whilst promising football league loanees, like the recently recruited Sam Gale from Gillingham, give them a professional edge.

The last meeting between the two sides saw Canvey defeat United 3-1 at the Moviestarr Stadium back in March, with goals from Bradley Sach, Luca Albon and Conor Hubble put the Gulls in the drivers seat for a playoff berth, at the expense of their opponents.

Canvey meanwhile, have been back into action over the last week after an enforced absence through postponements.

Their last league outing saw them draw 1-1 with Cheshunt at the Moviestarr Stadium last weekend, a Conor Hubble penalty earning them a point in a tight game.

They were also in Essex Senior Cup action on Tuesday, progressing to the 4th Round after beating White Ensign 4-1 - A Bradley Sach hatrick and a long awaited goal from Evans Kouassi firing them into the next round.

Parking is available at Pilot Field on the entrance to the Hastings United Sport and Socla Club gate, though is limited in its capacity.
Additional parking can be found on the side roads nearby, though we please ask supporters to be respectful of local residents if exercising this option.
