Canvey Island defeated fellow promotion hopefuls Enfield Town 3-0 at The Movie Starr Stadium on Saturday.
After a fairly even first half, Canvey opened the scoring 12 minutes into the second on the counter attack. An Enfield Town free kick into the area was cleared out to Bradley Sach on the left. He played a through ball for Evans Kouassi to run onto, with the forward getting the better of right back Dequane Wilson-Braithwaite and getting into the box.
Kouassi held up the ball while he waited for support, sliding a pass to his right for Joe Paxman to run onto and slot home.
The lead was doubled four minutes later in similar fashion. This time Sach flicked on a header for Kouassi to run onto, with the forward bursting down the left and sitting down defender James Richmond.
He cut the ball inside for Sach who had run into the area after winning his earlier header, slamming his shot in with his left foot.
The visitors nearly pulled a goal back on 67 minutes when a free kick was delivered into the box from the right, but Bobby Mason pulled off an excellent save.
Canvey wrapped up the points with seven minutes remaining when Conor Hubble’s free kick from the right was converted at the front post by defender Rob Girdlestone.
