Canvey Island begin their February with a challenging trip to South London to take on fellow promotion chasers Carshalton Athletic in the Isthmian League Premier.

The Robins are starting to show real quality after a muted start to the season, stringing together decent form that has seen them rise to within inches of the playoff places.
Their last outing didn't help their cause however as they were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation threatened Brightlingsea Regent on Tuesday night, the point rescued late in the game on the North Essex coast, as Femi Akinwande grabbed a late equaliser.

The Gulls meanwhile, are also still in the promotion chase, sitting just a point outside the playoff places after a dramatic 3-2 victory at home against Herne Bay, in an exciting affair that saw them grab all three points in 94th minute of the game.
Bradley Sach, Conor Hubble and Jamie Salmon got the ever important goals on the day.

This will be our 21st meeting with the Robins. The reverse fixture this season saw the two sides share the points at the Moviestarr Stadium, following a 1-1 draw, in a game remembered for the visitors boisterous German supporters club! Joe Paxman got the goal for Canvey on the day.

The race for a shot at promotion is still very much alive in what has proven to be a highly competitive division this year. Indeed, the Gulls are only 5 points away from the league summit and have games in hand on some of the teams above them.

They'll need to be in top form however against another playoff rival with one of the best home records in the division. They'll need the Yellow Army there in big numbers and even bigger voice.
