Canvey Island are back in league action this Saturday (24/09) as we host Corinthian Casuals at the Moviestarr Stadium in the Isthmian League Preimer.

Casuals have endured a tough start to the season and currently sit second from bottom in the table, their only win coming at gome against Bowers & Pitsea on the opening day. Their last match was almost two weeks ago on the 13th of September, losing 5-0 at home to Hornchurch.

The Gulls meanwhile, come into this match follow a goaless draw away at Enfield Town on Tuesday evening.

This will be our first competitive meeting with the Casuals since way back in 1993 in the FA Vase 3rd Round! The Gulls ran out 2-1 winners that day at Park Lane, goals from Andy Jones and Tony Mahoney sealing the win.

A lot has changed since the early 90 of course (even if the fashion is somewhat coming back) and the unpredictable nature of this division will make this another stern test.

With no Premier League or Championship football due to the international break and England not in action, why not chose non league this weekend? Come on you Gulls!
