Canvey Island progressed to the 4th round of the BBC Essex Senior Cup after an emphatic 5-0 win against Holland FC at Eastcliff Rec Ground.

Gulls were dominant against their hosts who ply their trade in the Eastern Counties League South, the same division as Benfleet.

Young striker Liam Oliver who has recently been training with Canvey scored a hat-trick on his debut and generally looked impressive throughout.

He opened the scoring after just 2 minutes. Conor Hubble's pass sent the striker through and from a tight angle he fired past Michael Bett.

It was 2-0 6 minutes later. Good work by Evans Kouassi down the left presented Oliver with a simple tap in from his cross.

Bett denied Oliver and Evangelos Empochontsif before Holland hit the post from a good attack.

Hubble had an effort cleared off of the line before Kouassi was close to scoring having an effort just clear the crossbar from Tobi Tinubu's right wing cross.

In the second half, Canvey turned on the style with Kouassi scoring a third after dancing past a couple of defenders before firing low into the net on 57 minutes.

Five minutes later it was 4-0, when a superb cross from substitute Callum Fitzer from the left found Oliver who finished well to complete his hat-trick.

Elliott Ronto could have scored a fifth before Fitzer completed the scoring on 77 minutes, rounding a defender and smashing home a low shot beyond Bett.

Tinubu curled an effort just wide and Oliver fired over after breaking through but the score-line remained at 5-0 and Gulls went through to the next round after a solid, professional performance.
