Canvey Island won through to the 2nd round proper of the FA Trophy after an emphatic 6-0 victory over Yaxley at Park Lane.

In front of another impressive crowd of 452, Gulls were once again in great attacking form dominating the game from start to finish and but for better finishing, they could easily have scored double figures.

They were in front within 7 minutes. Harrison Chatting burst clear of the Yaxley defence and as he was about to shoot, he was brought down by keeper Aaron Butcher. Butcher was fortunate to just receive a yellow card but Matt Price stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way with a well taken penalty.

Four minutes later and it was 2-0. Conor Hubble picked the ball up and fired a left footed finish high into the net to score in his 9th consecutive match.

The Northern Premier League Midlands side were being taken apart by Canvey's attacking flair.

A good move from Price saw him play in Chatting but his shot from the left flew just wide of the far post.

Canvey didn't have long to wait for their 3rd goal. On 22 minutes, Chatting's right wing cross found Price who headed home.

Evans Kouassi then thumped in a long range effort that Butcher did well to push away before Price fired wide from a tight angle.

A 4th goal was inevitable and this came on 35 minutes. A counter attack from Kouassi saw him find Price who in return put the winger through. Kouassi calmly stroked the ball past Butcher to pretty much seal the game for Canvey 10 minutes before half time.

With a 4-0 score line, it would have been expected for Canvey to slacken the pace and just see out the second half but to their credit they kept attacking.

Eliott Ronto had a great chance to score, minutes into the second half but after Kouassi's shot was saved, Ronto was tackled just as he was about to slot the loose ball home.

Price then broke through but lobbed his 20 yard effort wide before heading over a superb left wing cross from Jey Siva.

It took to just before the hour mark for Bobby Mason in the Canvey goal to make a save when he turned aside a dipping effort from John Paul Duncliffe.

Canvey introduced Callum Fitzer into the action and he nearly scored within moments of coming on, just failing to get a boot to Kouassi's left wing cross.

A 5th goal eventually came on 74 minutes. Kouassi was again instrumental turning a defender inside and out down the left before squaring to Chatting who placed his low shot from the edge of the penalty area past Butcher.

It was 6-0 on 81 minutes with Fitzer deservedly scoring his first goal for Canvey after turning well in the area and firing low across the keeper and into the corner of the net.

It could easily have been 7 with Evangelos Empochontsif and Price being denied by Butcher before a sensational run from Kouassi saw him dribble past several Yaxley defenders but his shot was unintentionally blocked on the line by Price.

Gulls have now scored 6 in two consecutive games and will eagerly await to see who they get in Monday lunchtime's draw.
