Canvey Island came back from a goal down to defeat Hashtag United at Park Lane on Tuesday evening.

The visitors, who were on course to win the Essex Senior League last season before it was cancelled, took the lead on 8 minutes through George Smith who scored from close range.

However, the Gulls grabbed an equaliser with Albert Levett drilled a shot through a crowd of defenders and past the keeper.

The game was decided on 63 minutes when Canvey were awarded a penalty which a trialist stepped up to dispatch confidently to secure the win.
