The Gulls put their poor league run behind them to win in the FA Trophy 3rd qualifying round away at Whitehawk.
Whitehawk enjoyed more of the ball in the first half wit Harry Bridle going close midway through the opening period Canveys first chance came when Charlie Stimson broke through on goal but was stopped by a fine save from Josh Shattell.
The deadlock was broken in the 1st minute when a cross from the left from Matis Skarna was tapped in by Max Fiddes. Louie Remi had a good chance to double the lead before half time but his shot went wide.
In the 2nd half the Hawks pushed for an equalizer and Canvey rode there luck with some last ditch goalmouth clearances with Bridle going close again.
In stoppage time Canvey sealed the tie when Max Fiddes turned provider after some fine individual play crossing for substitute Calum Newson to tap in on his debut.
Overall a much better all round performance and a clean sheet with an impressive debut performance from goalkeeper George Barrett.
Lets hope we can take this form into our next league match away to Potters Bar Town next Saturday.
Man of Match: Max Fiddes
