All at Canvey Island Football Club are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of popular clubman Glen Eckett.
As well as being a well loved personality and fervent supporter of the club, Glen served as the clubs head of media for a number of years, taking on the roles of the clubs website administrator, programme editor and match reporter among other roles.
A message from the board of directors
"Glen was truly a respected, popular and inspirational person and for many years until his illness was the club Website Administrator, programme editor and match reporter, a trail blazer both for the club and in his personal life.
Glen recently lost his fight for life, sadly leaving his wife Liz and twin daughters Francesca and Katherine.
Our thoughts are with Glens family at this sad time.
We will pass on any funeral details when known".
A message from the head of club media
"Glen, it's an awful feeling to know that I'll no longer see your face around the club. I always held out hope that I'd see you back at Park Lane, and it's terrible to think we'll never being able to chat again on away days about the clubs varying fortunes both past and present.
I'm forever grateful to you for having the trust in me to carry on the brilliant work you set up for the club, alongside a dedicated team of volunteers, and I hope we can keep things up to the lofty standards you set.
It's hard to think of someone nicer, more well articulated or friendlier than Glen, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family right now at what must be a truly difficult time".

We will be observing a minutes applause before todays match at home to Cray Wanderers. The thoughts of all at the club are with Glen's parents, wife and two daughters at the difficult time.
RIP Glen.
