The Gulls continue their preparations for the new season on Saturday afternoon as they welcome Billericay Town to the Steve's Taxis Stadium, with kick-off at 3pm.
Garry Kimble’s side will be looking to build on a positive opening pre-season outing last weekend, where they played out a hard-fought 0-0 draw against National League South side Ebbsfleet United. Canvey produced a disciplined defensive display throughout the ninety minutes, limiting the visitors to few clear-cut opportunities while giving the squad valuable minutes as preparations for the new campaign gathers pace.
Tomorrow’s visitors arrive having enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign. The Blues secured promotion back to the National League South after finishing third in the Isthmian League Premier Division before producing a successful play-off run, defeating Chatham Town in the semi-finals and Essex rivals Brentwood Town in the final. They'll be aiming to carry that momentum into life at Step 2, making this another excellent test for the Gulls during pre-season.
Meetings between the two Essex clubs are always keenly contested, and another competitive encounter is expected as both managers continue to assess their squads and build fitness ahead of the start of the league season.
