Hawkwell Athletic U9's Tigers v Canvey Island U9's Lions Match Report

Match Report

Canvey U9's kept up their winning streak on Sunday by a convincing win against Hawkwell.

The first half started off with Hawkwell scoring a very scrappy early goal which was a result of several deflections. Canvey didn't let this faze them and kept the pressure up with great passing between Jordan Bloss and Levi Causton resulting in Levi scoring the equaliser.

Finlay Dobson hit the post with a fantastic shot and Hawkwell were struggling under the attack. James Harrison dominated the left side both defending and attacking, and was rewarded with a goal which put Canvey in front.

The second half saw Hawkwell pushing forward but each time were forced to retreat by great tackling from Harry Neal and Jared Blake. However, Hawkwell managed to equalize from a corner when they crowded the box unabling goalkeeper Jack Sims to see.

Canvey stormed forwarded with Archie Blackburn troubling the defence and Finlay Dobson's speed and skill on the right side. Jared belted the ball from defence and Archie got control and put Canvey in the lead once again with a great goal.

This gave the Yellow Army the push they needed and Levi scored again. Hawkwell had another break for goal and Jack Sims found himself one-on-one with their striker. Without a second thought, Jack raced for the ball and completed a fantastic clearance which dropped at Levi's feet. Eager to get his hat-trick, Levi skillfully controlled the
ball and cheekily pushed it passed the keeper with the outside of his foot.

Hawkwell kept their heads up well and managed to sneak another goal in. James Harrison run his heart out, determined not to let them score again, with a mature ability to read the game. Jordan Bloss was solid in the middle and finally set up Finlay, who found the back of the net with a great goal.

In the final moments, Archie was unlucky not to be rewarded for his persistance with a penalty and the final whistle found the boys withanother good win beneath their belts.

All the boys played brilliant with Harry and Jared solid in defence, James, Jordan and Finlay working hard in midfield, and Archie and Levi harrassing the opposition. Not forgetting Jack Sims in goal, possibly the bravest goalkeeper in mini-soccer. All the parents were very proud of their sons performances and look forward to next weeks game.
