Match Report

Canvey moved up to fourth in the table with a hard fought success against a well organised Leigh Dynamos team. Leigh had the better of the early exchanges but it was Canvey who took the lead after twenty minutes.

A lovely through ball from Aaron Lynes gave the free scoring forward Ronny Baker a ball to run on to, the Leigh goalkeeper made a fine save at his feet but Baker gathered the loose ball on the edge of the penalty box to turn it into an empty net.

Leigh equalised just before half time when they scored following a corner. An even first half  finished with the score at 1-1.

The second half started with Canvey on the attack and Baker thought he had put Canvey ahead only for the goal to be ruled off side. However after ten minutes of an exciting second half Canvey were in front. an exquisite through ball from Dean Turner gave Baker the yard of space he needed to score his and Canvey's second. This goal took his personal tally for the season to eight in five games.

Leigh equalised soon after and the game looked set for a draw. Sam Jordan had other ideas though and a killer goal two minutes from time gave Canvey a welcome second league win of the season.
