John has been with the Club for many years, first as a player and then as manager of the Youth teams and Reserves. Took over the management of the first team ahead of the 2006/07 campaign after a hugely successful double winning season with the Reserves. Guided the club into the Ryman Premier League at only the second time of asking via the playoffs in 2007/08.
Richard Bastin - Goalkeeper
A goalkeeper who has progressed through local football into the first team squad via the Reserves. Made his debut as a substitute against Southend United in a pre season friendly earlier this year.
Stuart Batch - Midfielder
A young, tenacious midfield player who has come through Canvey’s Youth teams and Reserves. Has represented Essex on numerous occasions.
Greg Cohen - Midfielder
An exciting 24 year old left winger signed from Tilbury ahead of this season. A superb crosser of the ball, he is not afraid to run at defenders with his quick footwork.
Danny Curran - Midfielder/Forward
An experienced midfielder/forward who joined the club at the beginning of 2006/07 season. He has previously played for Aveley, East Thurrock, Chelmsford City, Purfleet and Leyton Orient. Missed much of the past two seasons through persistent injury.
Jay Curran - Forward
Younger brother of Danny, he is a strong, pacey forward who has progressed through Canvey’s Youth teams and Reserves. Hit double figures for the second consecutive season last year with 11 goals.
Craig Davidson - Defender/Midfielder
A Canvey favourite who is now in his third spell at the Club after returning in 2006/07 as Club captain. ‘Crow’ made over 40 appearances in Canvey’s FA Trophy winning season, 2000/01. He has also played for Southend United, Dagenham & Redbridge, Billericay Town and Thurrock.
Kevin Dobinson - Midfielder
A midfielder/defender who is another former favourite who returned to the Club in 2006/07 after missing a couple of seasons through injury. He was a member of Canvey’s Ryman Premier winning squad in 2003/04 and was previously captain at Chelmsford City.
Jon Edwards - Midfielder
A young midfielder who has signed for the club before last season after 3 years playing University football in San Antoino, Texas. Rarely gives away possession, and often breaks up opposition play with his accurate tackling.
Frank Everett - Defender
Defender signed from Heybridge Swifts at the end of last season. A versatile player able to play anywhere along the back line, he lists Maldon Town and Burnham Ramblers as his former clubs.
Gabriel Fanibuyan - Midfielder
Signed from Potters Bar Town before the 2007/08 season, winning the Manager's Player of The Year Award. An exceptionally talented midfielder, Gabriel is one of the most exciting players to have worn the Canvey shirt in many years.
Leon Gordon - Midfielder/Forward
Last season's Manager’s Player and Supporters’ Player of the Year. Canvey born and bred, Leon always gives his all for the cause. Comfortable either up front or on the right wing, he has found the net on over 10 occasions on the past three seasons, finishing as top scorer with 16 last year. He was previously with Peterborough United and Arsenal.
Richard Halle (Captain)- Defender/Midfielder
A hard working centre defender/midfielder who resigned for the club from AFC Hornchurch in January '08. Has previously played for Aveley before moving to Canvey, Richard is a free kick specialist. Last season’s Player’s Player of The Year.
Jason Hallett - Forward
23-year old striker who rejoined the club in September 2009 after a three year spell with Chelmsford City. Originally joined the club via the Youth & Reserve Teams after John Batch had brought him to the club from Waltham Abbey. Best remembered for his goals against Grays Athletic home and away in the 2005/06 Conference season.
Danny Kerrigan - Defender/Midfielder
Having started his career with Southend United, Danny went on to play for an array of Essex non-league sides including Billericay Town, Grays Athletic, and Hornchurch. Starts the season injured following a knock against Chelmsford City in pre season.
Robbie King - Defender/Midfielder
Signed for The Gulls in September 2009. Started his career with Colchester United, making appearances for the first team both at Layer Road and whilst on loan at Hereford United in the Conference. Played for Heybridge Swifts last season, Robbie can play either in defence or midfield.
Chris Moore - Defender
Tall, experienced centre back entering his second spell with the club after signing from Welling United before last season. Commands his defence expertly with immense aerial presence. Has also played for clubs including Dagenham & Redbridge and Gravesend & Northfleet (now Ebbsfleet United).
Tarkan Mustafa - Defender
An experienced defender, signed prior to last season from Redbridge. Has Football League experience with Dagenham & Redbridge, Rushden & Diamonds, and Barnet. Comfortable on the ball with a decent touch, not afraid to put in a tackle either.
Ben Patten - Defender
Tall centre back who started his career with Ford United (now Redbridge). Transferred to Ipswich Town under Joe Royle's guidance before taking some time out of the game. Joined the club prior to our return to the Ryman Premier League last season.
Nick Reynolds - Forward
A young striker who rejoined the club at the end of last season following time at University. A good all round player with great potential, he will be looking to make his mark in the First Team this season.
James Rowe - Forward
Striker who joined the club from Leiston Town before the current campaign. A prolific goalscorer throughout his career, James made an impact in the Ryman League whilst at AFC Sudbury, scoring 34 goals in the 2007/08 season. Hit the ground running with 5 goals in the pre season campaign this year.
James Russell - Goalkeeper
A graduate of the Chelsea Academy, James rejoined the club ahead of this season having previously played for us on loan from Stevenage Borough in the 2007/08 season.
Andrew West - Defender
The 2007/08 Supporter's Player of The Season, Andrew was brought to the club as part of John Batch's successful Reserve side from Waltham Abbey. Solid with his feet and in the air, he was virtually an ever present in our Ryman One North promotion winning side.
