John Batch (Manager)

John has been with the Club for many years, first as a player and then as manager of the Youth teams and Reserves. Took over the management of the first team last season after a hugely successful double winning season with the Reserves in 2005/06.


Garry Britnell (Assistant Manager)

A ‘legend’ at Canvey for many years. After playing for Canvey as a youngster, he returned in 1994 and was equally at home in defence or midfield as he played several hundred games for the Club.


Mel Capleton (Goalkeeping Coach)

A vastly experienced goalkeeper having played for clubs including Southend United, Leyton Orient, Blackpool, and Grays Athletic. Had previously played for Canvey on loan from Southend. He is also registered as a player, though his main responsibilites will be to develop young keeper Ricky Wiseman.




Stuart Batch

A young, tenacious midfield player who has come through Canvey’s Youth teams and Reserves. Has represented Essex on numerous occasions.


George Blewer

A young defender who has come through the Reserves after previously being at Ipswich Town and Southend.


Chris Bourne

A defender/midfielder that re-joined the Club last season. He has previously played for Southend United and Billericay Town. Has plenty of pace to compliment his excellent ball control. A Guyanan International, called up to make his debut against Cuba in 2008.




Steve Corbell

A wide midfield player who has played for the Reserves for a number of seasons after starting at West Ham United as a youth. Delivers a good ball into the box from either wing.




Danny Curran

An experienced forward who joined the club at the beginning of last season, though only gained full fitness in April. He has previously played for Aveley, East Thurrock, Chelmsford City, Purfleet and Leyton Orient.




Jay Curran

Younger brother of Danny, he is a strong, pacey forward who has progressed through Canvey’s Youth teams and Reserves. Scored 13 goals last season.




Craig Davidson (Captain)

A Park Lane favourite who is now in his third spell at the Club after returning last season as Club captain. ‘Crow’ made over 40 appearances in Canvey’s FA Trophy winning season, 2000/01. He has also played for Southend United, Dagenham & Redbridge, Billericay Town and Thurrock.




Kevin Dobinson

A midfielder/defender who is another former favourite that has returned to the Club last year after missing a couple of seasons through injury. He was a member of Canvey’s Ryman Premier winning squad in 2003/04 and was previously captain at Chelmsford City. Voted as the Manager’s Player of the Year last season.




Ryan Edgar

A powerful midfielder who played for the Reserves last season. He has previously played for MK Dons and Farnborough Town. Scored Canvey’s goal of the season last year with a 30 yard thunderbolt against AFC Hornchurch. A Dominican International, Ryan received his first call up for Dominica's World Cup Qualifiers against Barbados in 2008.


Gabriel Fanibuyan

Fanibuyan, who hit 18 goals for Potters Bar Town last season, is a versatile player who can play anywhere in midfield or attack. Keeps the crowd on their toes every time he gets the ball.




Danny Francis

A 21 year old wide midfield player who signed from Aveley pre season. Possesses immense pace, and regularly delivers a good cross from either wing. He is a Dominica U21 International and has recently been called up to the full Dominica International side to face Barbados.


Leon Gordon

A forward or midfield player who has played in the Reserves for a number of seasons. Scored 10 goals last season despite a series of injuries. He was previously with Peterborough United.


Richard Halle

 
A hard working centre defender/midfielder who resigned for the club from AFC Hornchurch in January '08. Has previously played for Aveley before moving to Canvey, Richard is a free kick specialist.


David Kreyling

A 25 year-old defender who joined the Club in the last season. A fan favourite, he has previously played for Heybridge Swifts and Braintree Town.


Ian Luck

Lightening quick striker signed during the 2006/07 season. He has previously played for Redbridge, where he was their top goalscorer in the Ryman Premier League two years ago.


Clydie Roberts

An extremely talented midfielder who had a very impressive season last year, winning the Player’s Player of the Year. He previously played for Redbridge.


Nicky Rugg

A forward who was a prolific scorer for the Reserves before leaving to join Maldon Town where he continued to score regularly. Returned to Canvey last season, scoring 12 goals and being voted as the Supporter’s Player of the Year.


James Russell

20 year old goalkeeper signed on loan from Stevenage Borough in January 08. A product of the Chelsea Youth system, he has played in the Blue Square Premier for Stevenage.


Jon Stuart

A brave defender who has played for the Reserves for a number of seasons. He originally played for West Ham United’s youth team.


Colin Wall

An experienced centre back that played for Canvey early in his career and returned last season. Among his previous clubs are Heybridge Swifts, Bishop’s Stortford, Gravesend & Northfleet, Chelmsford City and Maldon Town.


Andrew West

A young centre back that played for the Youth teams and was a member of the double-winning Reserves two season’s ago. Previously played for Waltham Abbey.


Ricky Wiseman

A talented young goalkeeper who has come through the Youth teams and Reserves. Has represented England Schoolboys at under-18 level, as well as Essex. Kept 16 clean sheets last season during a year in which he improved with games under his belt.
