Canvey Island will be looking to progress to the Quarter Finals of the BBC Essex Senior Cup on Tuesday evening, as they travel to Essex Senior League side Buckhurst Hill in the 4th Round.

Our Opponents

The Stags come into this match on the back of their best ever run in the competition, and will be looking to upset the odds again at home as they did in the 3rd Round - where they dispatched Waltham Abbey, of the Southern League Division 1 Central, 3-0 at Myrak Park.

The club itself, like our opponents White Ensign in the last round, only gained NLS status as recently as 2021, following on from the creation of the Eastern Counties 1st Division South - a league that has seen sides from the intermittent county leagues make the step up into senior competitions.
Having always been a prominent side at the top end of Olympian League, their first season at Step 6 saw them battle for promotion all year, and they reached the playoff final, only to beaten in said game by Halstead Town. However, the league granted them promotion during their summer reshuffle, allowing them become a staple name in the Essex Senior League.

They come into this game off the back 1-0 defeat in the league away at Athletic Newham on Saturday afternoon.
The club has always looked to promote talent from the local area, with several players from their youth system going on to play professionally, and manager Mark Williams has plenty of talent in his side to pose a threat to any team. Striker Suley Zudhu was a part of the clubs impressive rise, earning himself a move to the Isthmian League on the back of this goalscoring record before his recent return, and talented players like Henry Clark and recent signing Abdullai Sarr are also names to watch out for.

The Gulls
Canvey meanwhile, will be hoping to keep their final chance at silverware alive, following on from busy period in the league.

They'll also be looking to recover from a damming defeat on the road on Saturday, losing 5-1 at promotion chasing Chatham Town.
Jamie Salmon scored the Canvey consolation on an afternoon where injuries and shortcomings on the pitch cost the Gulls dearly.

Canvey are four times Senior Cup winners, and reached the Quarter Final stage of this competition last season. They could equal that at least, with a win on Wednesday evening. A trio to League 2 side Colchester United awaits the winners of this tie - a big incentive for both clubs.
