Canvey Island begin a bumper Bank Holiday weekend at home, as they host Bognor Regis Town at the Moviestarr Stadium this Saturday is the Isthmian League Premier.

The Opposition

The Rocks have, like ourselves, have stumbled out of the gate somewhat in their first three games of the season, picking up 2 draws and a loss so far. Their last outing saw them held to a goalless draw at home by league new boys Hashtag Untied last Saturday.

Manager Robbie Blake will be looking to push on from his side's 14th placed finish last season, with a campaign blighted by injuries taking it's toll as Bognor fell short of many of the early season predictions. They've brought in the likes Dan Smith and Lucas Pattenden to bolster their attack in the summer, as well promising defensive signings like Matt Burgess from AFC Bournemouth. However, they've lost last season's top scorer Nathan Odokonyero to National League side Ebbsfleet United.

This will be our 21st meeting with Bognor in all competitions. Our last match up came back in mid march, where a single goal from Evans Kouassi gave the Gulls a 1-0 win away from home in our charge for the playoffs.

The Gulls
Canvey meanwhile, endured a difficult week in the capital following their opening day thriller, with a loss at Dulwich Hamlet coupled with a 2-1 defeat away at Kingstonian on Saturday.

Charlie Edwards headed the Gulls level after they fell behind early on, only to be cruelly beaten in the 93rd minute, compounding a tough week in which they won't want to see South London again, for a little while.

They'll face two quickfire games this Bank Holiday weekend, with the Rocks visit this weekend followed quickly by a first Island derby away from home in the league since 2013 on Monday afternoon.
