Billericay Town 2 - 4 Canvey Island
Canvey Island completed the double over Billericay Town this evening with a fine 4-2 victory at The New Lodge. The Gulls took the lead on 22 minutes when Richard Halle's free kick nestled into the top right hand corner. Jay Curran then doubled the lead 2 minutes later as he latched onto Leon Antoine's header to slot home. Jo Flack reduced the deficit from the penalty spot at the start of the second half, but Leon Gordon restored the 2 goal cushion 4 minutes later when he finished following Stuart Ainsley's through ball. Leon Antoine then headed in a tremendous fourth on 58 minutes to seemingly seal the win. Flack grabbed his second for Billericay with 20 minutes to go, and the last 20 minutes saw Canvey defend for their lives. However, a great team performance at the back along with an inspired performance by Ricky Wiseman ensured that Canvey beat their Essex rivals once more.
This evening we travel the short trip to take on Essex rivals Billericay Town, kick off at 7.45pm. The Blues are currently 10th in the league table, 2 places behind ourselves with 2 games in hand, with both sides being on 43 points. Canvey fought back in the second half, and after building some good pressure, Curran's glancing header eventually found the back of the net.

Dover Athletic 2 - 1 Canvey Island
The Gulls put it in a good performance at The Crabble yesterday, before eventually losing 2-1 to league leaders Dover Athletic. The hosts took the lead as early as the 6th minute, Lee Browing turning home a low cross from the left wing. Canvey managed to equalise on 56 minutes thanks to Jay Curran. Having not taken a similar chance in the first half, Curran showed great composure to lob the ball over Preston Edwards and into the back of the net. Both sides went looking for the winner, and this was eventually found by Jerhal Hughes for the hosts on 77 minutes.
At Park Lane, the Reserves beat Basildon United Reserves 5-3 in a league fixture, goals from Kieran English (2), Yomi Adeosun, Charlie Griffin, and recent returnee to the club, Nick Reynolds.

The club would like to congratulate Canvey Manager John Batch for receiving the runners up prize in the "Sports Personality of the Year" category of the Echo Sports Awards last night at the Sky Bar, Basildon.

Canvey Island 2 - 0 Ramsgate
Canvey recorded back to back home victories with a convincing 2-0 win against Ramsgate at Park Lane today. After The Gulls had the better of the first half, Leon Gordon opened the scoring on 41 minutes thanks to some great perseverance. Gabriel Fanibuyan was tripped in the box soon after, and Craig Davidson slotted home the resulting penalty to double the lead. Just before half time, Kevin Dobinson and Ramsgate's Des Byrne were both dismissed following a mass brawl. Canvey almost extended the lead on several occasions, but in the end had to settle for an impressive 2-0 victory.
This afternoon we welcome Ramsgate to Park Lane in our latest Ryman Premier League match, kick off at 3pm. Ramsgate are currently just inside the relegation zone in 19th place. Staines Town 2 - 1 Canvey Island
Canvey were denied a deserved draw by a late strike in this close contest. The hosts took the lead early on, and look as though they may have added to the score in the first 20 minutes. However, Canvey got back into the game when Richard Halle equalised, and controlled the play for the rest of the half. Staines were given a penalty in the second half, but Ricky Wiseman got down well to his right to save the spot kick. But as the point looked as though it had been achieved, Staines struck just before full time to claim the win.
Tomorrow we are away to Staines Town in our latest Ryman Premier League fixture, kick off at 3pm. The game is very likely to be fine, and it is thought that only some very bad weather over night would put the match in doubt. The Supporters' Coach leaves Park Lane at 12pm.
